2nd October, Happy Birthday Bapu

1. Dear Dear Bapu
What all you went through

             India Is My Country

India Is My Country
Land for all to see
Temples here and Churches there
Yet all things we do share

Be it rice or be it roti
Be it saree or be it dhoti
All do eat and all do wear
In no other country one can dare

              City Life In India

An Indian male in the city
Wants a wife who is all so pretty
Pretty though, but dumb at home
One who works and does not roam

City life is now so dear
Each one up in gear
So we see both men and women
Striving to achieve side by side

Now this man with his pretty working wife
Is at loss at what he has got
No longer a Godly image
Literates of the city say

Can he maintain in this world
Forefathers of whom shot the gun
When birth of a baby boy
Had called for a lot of joy

                                     A Typical Indian Mother's Wish

Pretty face and lips so red
Velvet skin and a prince to wed
Slender hands and feet so trim
A perfect figure and not a whim

Fare well child, farewell to thee
Please do never come back to me
Tis from there you must leave
For eternal life back to Eve

Turn back not, my child
Moving forward out into the wild
The world full of sin and din
No peace one has from within

Weary steps, broken legs
Shattered dreams on a deck
Of a ship in waters so spate
Even then my child, reach that gate

Notes:-

Armenia officially the Republic of Armenia  is a landlocked mountainous country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, it is bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the south.
A former republic of the Soviet Union, Armenia is a unitary, multiparty, democratic nation-state with an ancient and historic cultural heritage. The Kingdom of Armenia became the first state to adopt Christianity as its religion in the early years of the 4th century (the traditional date is 301).  The modern Republic of Armenia recognizes the Armenian Apostolic Church as the National church of Armenia, although the republic has separation of church and state.
**Algeria officially the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, also formally referred to as the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, is a country in the Maghreb region of Northwest Africa with Algiers as its capital.
In terms of land area, it is the largest country in Africa, the Arab World and of the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea; it is also the tenth-largest country in the world. The country is bordered in the northeast by Tunisia, in the east by Libya, in the west by Morocco, in the southwest by Western Sahara, Mauritania, and Mali, in the southeast by Niger, and in the north by the Mediterranean Sea. Its size is almost 2,400,000 square kilometres (926,645 sq mi) with an estimated population of 36.3 million as of 2011.
Algeria is a member of the African Union, the Arab League, OPEC and the United Nations. The country is also a founding member of the Arab Maghreb Union.
***After the Fall of the 1st Temple many Jews went to what we now call North Africa - Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia primarily. The indigenous peoples there were called Berbers and most converted to Judaism. In the 7th Century - the Arab conquest was taking place and their most inspirational leader not only a Woman, but a Jew. Born as Dahia - Biblical name of Deborah - she was given the name by her Arab enemies of "Al Kahina" (of the Cohen tribe). The nomadic Jews had settled in the Aures mountains and it was the Jerawa woman named Dahia who fought and slew the enemy in 683 CE. 15 years later she was once again attacked by Egyptians - won again - and then recaptured Carthage (now in Tunisia) and ruled in triumph. However, she was overwhelmed in 702 CE by Arab armies who had retaken most of the Maghreb - North Africa. She convinced her 3 sons to convert to avoid death by the Arab General Hassan. She herself continued to battle them and was killed or executed that evening. Her sons were the first Jews to land with the Moslems on Gibralter and Spain.

**** The Dominican Republic  is a nation on the island of La Hispaniola, part of the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean region. The western third of the island is occupied by the nation of Haiti, making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands that are shared by two countries. Both by area and population, the Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba), with 48,442 square kilometers (18,704 sq mi) and an estimated 10 million people.
Tainos ( indigenous peoples of Bahamas, Antilles, and Lesser Antilles ) inhabited what is now the Dominican Republic since the 7th century. Christopher Columbus landed on it in 1492, and it became the site of the first permanent European settlement in the Americas, namely Santo Domingo, the country's capital and Spain's first capital in the New World. Santo Domingo can boast of many firsts in the Americas, including the first university, cathedral, and castle, the latter two in the Ciudad Colonial area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Man and Environment

1.  Man and Environment

2.  Principal Types of Mankind

3. Races of Mankind

From Adam and Eve
All born from same sieve
Skin yellow, brown, black and white
Hair straight and curly one can sight

This world being wide
In all directions did kids ride and ride
Then to settle in different environs
Which put its stamp and races varied

Floods and famines, droughts and disease
Races run as being seized
Crossed the seas with a fervour too
For a fortune which they not knew

4. Miss Renee Rickmers
who sailed her father's ship while crossing the Atlantic
From the New York Daily Tribune, Sunday, May 20, 1906

Land and climate being anew
Don a skin as being sewn
Parlours ashamed as hair being tamed
But a period taken for this change

May in future they go back
Will be given a new face pack
Man may have whatever goal
Environment would still play its role

Happy Teacher's Day

  Portrait Painting With Letters

1 Jawaharlal Nehru University

Face almost round
Kanpur is his hometown
A stout body and fair skin
2. Prof. Aslam Mahmood
Big lipped and clean shaven

Medium stature and voice resounding
Round rimmed spectacles below a side parting
Bigger eyes seems to look through
Receding hairline not a woe

For Prof. Aslam* with years well spent
Had lived life fullest with not a dent
On to his endearing personality of strong character
To one and all always a well wisher

Yes, that is Prof. Aslam
A well established Statistician
My thanks to him for all the help he rendered
To whom no time on the clock ever mattered
